Skilled workers and Professionals are selected as Canadian permanent residents based on their ability to become economically established in Canada. Skilled worker category allow the applicant to immigrate to Canada with his or her family.
Based on personal goals and situations, a candidate can choose an ideal option among different options. Below are the some options under this category.
Federal Skilled Worker: This program is for individuals with minimum required work experience and have intention to reside in any province or territory outside of the province of Quebec.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program: (FSTP) is for individuals who want to become permanent residents of Canada based on being qualified in a skilled trade and have intention to reside in any province or territory outside of the province of Quebec.
Quebec Skilled Worker: Individuals who plan to immigrate to the province of Quebec may be qualified to submit an application through this program.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Most provinces and territories of Canada nominate people who meet specific local labor market needs for permanent residence.
Each province and territory has its own immigration criteria for their PNP. For instance, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target students, business people, skilled workers or semi-skilled workers. Provinces and territories have various streams in their PNPs, but they tend to fall into five major categories :
skilled workers,
semi-skilled workers,
business/investors,
international student graduates, and
family or community connections.
Canadian immigration fast-track programs allow candidates to receive a provincial nomination certificate. Under express entry, a nomination certificate will allow candidates to immigrate more rapidly than through other Canadian immigration programs.
