Work Visa
In general, individuals who are not Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada require a valid work permit to work in Canada. However, there are number of other ways to work in Canada without undergoing the traditional work permit application process.
Work visas and employment authorizations are known as work permits in Canada. A work permit is a document issued by officials of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that allows a foreign individual to work at a specific job for a specific employer.
The main work visa classifications for working in Canada are the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (Skilled Workers & Professionals), Canadian Experience Class (for people with having Canadian work experience or who have graduated and recently worked in Canada), Provincial Nominee Program (one of Canada’s provinces or territories sponsor applicant) and the International Experience Canada Program (Canada’s Working Holiday Visa). There are also other options for Investors and Self-Employed.
At Brainy Immigration and Employment Services Inc., We frequently assist employers and job seekers to Canada in securing positive ESDC labor market impact assessment (LMIA) opinions. After a positive LMIA is issued, the foreign worker may qualify to apply for a Canadian work permit.
Applicants who have received a temporary offer of employment to work in Canada and employers who would like to hire a temporary foreign worker may rely on our guidance to apply for an LMIA and a Canadian work permit.
