The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)
The YNP streams for Skilled Workers and Critical Impact Workers is locally driven according to the needs of Yukon employers Under this program, eligible employers can select internationally trained and experienced foreign workers who have the skills needed in the local labour market, and province can nominate them to receive Canadian permanent resident visas to settle and work in Yukon. Candidates interested to settle in Yukon and become Canadian permanent residents can apply through three categories:
Yukon Skilled Worker Program;
Yukon Critical Impact Worker Program;
Yukon Business Nominee Program;
YUKON SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM
This stream is employer-driven and designed to assist Yukon employers, sectors or governments to identify and nominate potential qualified immigrants to fill positions that cannot be filled by territorial or national labour markets.
In order to qualify, applicants must have:
Have education and work experience that satisfy the job in the NOC skill level 0, A or B
Proof of education/credentials
At least one year of related work experience
Provide valid results from a language test administered by a designated testing agency
Must need a valid work permit throughout the YNP application and assessment process
YUKON CRITICAL IMPACT WORKER PROGRAM
The Critical Impact Worker Program is for qualified workers who fit into National Occupational Classification (NOC) C or D categories. This program permits entry level jobs in the hospitality and service sectors in order to address the critical need of semi-skilled workers in the territory.
In order to qualify, applicants must have:
Must have an offer off employment classified skill level "C" and "D" in the NOC;
6 months of work experience;
Proof of education/credentials
Have a work permit or have already worked in the position for six months;
Must provide valid original test results from a language test administered by a designated testing agency
YUKON BUSINESS NOMINEE PROGRAM
Under Yukon Business Nominee Program category, candidates with entrepreneurial skills can participate in Yukon's business community and help expand and diversify our economy.Yukon Business Nominee Program is not an
"investment program", but applicants are required to contribute money to their business to ensure its viability.In order to qualify, applicants must have:
A personal net worth of at least $250 000;
Must make an investment of at least $150 000;
Purchase or become partner in an existing business or start a new one in an eligible sector;
Must have relevant management or entrepreneurial experience
Must demonstrate reasonable knowledge of Yukon and its economy as well as reasonable communication skills, necessary experience and education to successfully implement business plan.
YUKON SELF-EMPLOYED IMMIGRATION CATEGORY
This stream is intended for some professionals which are in demand, such as doctors, nurses, electrical engineers and electronic engineers. The applicants must have:
Reasonable communication skills and reasonable knowledge of Yukon and its economy;
Create a business plan and have sufficient resources to commence and operate a professional practice.
